Système familial et relations d’attachement entre parents et enfants perçues par les frères et sœurs

Abstract : Studies of parent-child attachment focused first on a dyadic perspective, then they extended their topic so as to examine the influence of a family subsystem on the quality of dyadic attachment. Indeed, a family is composed of many dependent and interdependent subsystem, namely the trans-generational, conjugal, parental, co-parental and siblings sub-systems. The aim of this study was to examine the joint influence of all these sub-systems in order to determine on what relies the potential mismatch of attachment of two siblings to the same ‘attachment figure’. Hundred and eight French families with two children aged 6 to 12 years were interviewed concerning their family relationships. Results show that this lens provides innovative lighting expanding the understanding of parent-child attachment. Depending on the family members’ positions and roles in the family (mother, father, firstborn and second-born child), family variables influence differently the quality of the attachment relationships between parents and children In addition, some variables play an important role in attachment relationships for all members of the family.
