The Economics of Clusters

Abstract

The economics of clusters has grown in popularity in the early 1990s at the crossroads of economic geography and economics of innovation. This chapter surveys both clusters theories and empirics, and distinguishes what comes from natural market and network interactions from what comes from public incentives and regional policy.
