Et si le Néolithique s'arrêtait dans les années 1950 ? Réflexions et références sur les relations animal-homme dans les sociétés rurales

Abstract : Archeozoology is nowadays developing more and more precise and complex interpretations that seduce by the quantity of speeches on the subject and by the ease of application of the methods and data. It is based on evidences that are mostly zoological which are rarely discussed. But, the approach of the authors of this article regularly meets great difficulties when they must define de biological and zootechincal basis of the archeozoological tool. Through the use of three themes, one being on the quantitative estimation of meat eaters, the notion of herd, and the seasonal rhythm of the reproduction of small domestic herbivores (ovine and goat), the authors would like to show that the disciplinary fields upon which archeozoological thought process was born are unknown. Their data are neither discussed nor worked on before being used. Their reading and their mechanical use drive to create a virtual world. One effect of those stereotypes is illustrated by the propensity to see the old agricultural world with the thought of a man from the twenty-first century with unconscious scientific knowledge.
