« Džijás dur i mérepén » : « Il y a eu un meurtre ». Présentation d’une version manouche du conte‑type La Bête à sept têtes (T. 300) recueillie en 2018 en Creuse

Abstract : The article is devoted to a tale recently collected in Limousin (2018), in Romani language (dialect Sinto/Gypsy), relatable, according to the international classification, to the type 300—The Dragon Slayer and introduced by the T. 315—The Faithless Sister. In addition to describing the conditions of the collecting, the transcription in Romani and the translation into French of the tale, we propose to compare it to another version of the T. 300 collected in the 1960s, in Auvergne, in the same dialect and in the same families, by Joseph Valet, and to place it into the particular context of his three unfortunately unknown collections of manouche tales, as well as in the general context of the multiple versions existing in France and in Europe of this type (the version collected having most probably been developed in Alsace and in any case in a Germanic environment). Through and beyond the strictly linguistic question, we will examine the specificity of Gypsy appropriation of this tale.
