"Indexicals and the act of referring: How context constrains and is modified via deictic, anadeictic and anaphoric references"

Francis Cornish

Résumé

This paper investigates the constraints that context places on the functioning and interpretation of various indexicals, whether of the pure-deictic, "anadeictic" or pure-anaphoric types; and, conversely, the ways in which the use of any one of these three broad types of indexical reference shifts the context obtaining just prior to such reference acts.
